Robbie Messer An excellent EP with great vocals and instrumentation. It gives off a 90's country pop vibe, yet sounds fresh thanks to its production. Every song on here is solid and has high replayability. Favorite track: Easy Now.

What’s it like with your head in the clouds? Are you still livin’ in that run around? Gettin’ off when you sound profound? Well it used to leave me weak Then you told me you needed room to breath And I was so full of negativity Well I hope the truth will set you free ‘Cause you’re not foolin’ me It was hard to love you when the writing was on the wall It was hard to let go when I gave you my all But/and now I can plainly see that you’re not foolin’ anyone And you’re not foolin’ me From where I sit I’ve got a perfect view All the games you play I see right through Fool ‘em once - shame on you! But baby you’re not foolin’ me. Oh, no. I hope you can finally find what you’re lookin’ for ‘Cause I wont be playin’ your fool no more

about

Recorded at Studio Supreme in Los Angeles, ‘Easy Now’ is a five-song collection that was written by Chapman along with help from Kris Karlsson, Grammy winning songwriter Ryan Petersen, and Adam Tressler. Chapman brought in a plethora of notable backing musicians including Joshua Ray Gooch (Shania Twain), Kris Karlsson (The Haden Triplets), Adam Tressler (Aimee Mann, Kasey Musgraves), Kiel Feher (Best Coast, LP), and John Spiker (Tenacious D).

“When writing this EP I wanted to explore different emotions than I had on my previous records,” explains Chapman. “Every single aspect has been a collaborative effort with people who really understand my journey. And when you're singing country music in LA, it can be hard to find those people. That gave me the confidence to silence all the noise, just make music and be authentically me. Every choice that John [Spiker] and I made was to serve the song and not feel beholden to a list of arbitrary rules.”

With nods to a 90’s version of country, Céleigh and Grammy award-winning producer John Spiker, never feel constraints or pressure to create records that fit current trends. Instead, they go boldly into allowing musicians and sounds serve the songs and carry out Céleigh’s style of country. With attention to what she calls movement and motion, Céleigh is often inspired by her long drive times across Los Angeles for making music worthy of your car stereo.

EP opener “Not Foolin’ Me” is a country-pop ditty that channels the classic attitude and female energy of 90s country, while “Tryin’” is Chapman’s triumph over imposter syndrome that she calls a somewhat “anti-anthem”. The EP’s title track “Easy Now” is destined to be a radio hit and fan favorite, and Chapman’s most personal track to date tackling a journey to self-love. “Too Much Sunshine” lays a moody foundation uncovering her experience with toxic positivity that begs to be heard on a car stereo. Rounding out the EP is a classic bar room ballad driven by the aching whine of pedal steel “Every Time We Say Goodbye” – transports you to an Urban Cowboy scene and tugs at your heart strings.
